Kumho Easter Long Weekend Travel Release

The Easter long weekend is a time where families get in the car and travel long distances to come together and celebrate. Because of this, there is a huge increase of numbers on our roads. In 2014 alone, NSW recorded 309 fatalities throughout the year and over the Easter long weekend over 120 people were injured in over 420 major crashes.

In light of these facts, Kumho Tyres Australia has given some helpful hints showcasing the benefits of being prepared and aware on your holiday.

  • Plan Your Trip Beforehand – Before you head off on your Easter long weekend adventure you’ll need to plan out the best route to travel. Take into account rest stops along the way, the weather forecast, and the distance between towns, and of course how long the trip will take. A GPS is a great idea to take the stress away from reading the map!
  • Check Your Vital Signs – It sounds simple, but how many times have you left home without even thinking about oil or water levels? When you’re heading off on your road trip it is a good idea to check everything the day before, that way you’re not rushing it in the morning and likely to forget something.
  • Stock Up – Certain stores may not be open throughout the Easter break so make sure you’ve stocked up on the essentials e.g. spare engine oil. It’s a good idea to check that your spare tyre is in proper working order in case of emergency.
  • Get Your Pressure Right – If you’re not sure of the optimal pressure for your tyres, specifications should be inside the drivers door or glove box. Remember to follow these guidelines when your inflating, as too little pressure in your tyres will create higher rolling resistance, which leads to a higher fuel consumption. If you’re taking a full car or towing a trailer it’s a good idea to add an extra 4PSI as heavy loads can put extra strain on your tyres.
  • Stop. Revive. Survive. – The signs don’t lie, every two hours you should stop, have a break and freshen up. It is a good idea to switch drivers at these intervals to reduce fatigue levels and allow you to finish your journey safely.

MARSHAL TYRE BRINGS LOWER PRICES WHILE DELIVERING KUMHO QUALITY

Leading tyre maker Kumho has launched a new and highly affordable tyre brand to provide better quality tyres to budget conscious motorists.

The new brand, Marshal Tyres, will initially boast two entry-level products for small, medium and large passenger cars.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha, the introduction of Marshal Tyres means saving money without compromising quality.

“Kumho is conscious that not everyone can afford products in the top end of the market,” said David Basha.

“Marshal Tyres boasts Kumho’s high levels of quality for an even more cost effective price and are the best possible combination of quality and price.”

Marshal’s flagship tyre, the Matrac XM KH35 is a high performance tyre that also delivers a comfortable ride. The KH35 is available in 15 sizes ranging from 175/65/R15 to 235/40/R18.

The asymmetrical tread design delivers high grip levels and performance handling. Tie bars between tread blocks strengthen the tyre and reduce flex in order to ensure a long lasting, durable tyre.

The Matrac MH11 is a touring tyre for small cars such as the Holden Barina, Suzuki Swift and Mazda 2. The MH11 is available in a 14 inch 175/65 or 185/65 sizes with a directional tread pattern.

A rigid central rib offers stability at highway speed while also providing a smooth, comfortable and quiet ride. Four longitudinal grooves deliver exceptional water channeling to reduce the risk of aquaplaning.

“Marshal tyres have been designed and produced by Kumho to ensure price is not a factor when it comes to fitting reliable, quality tyres,” said David. Marshal tyres are only available at Tyrepower and Kumho’s Platinum and master dealers.

Kumho’s New Mt51 Passes The Toughest Test Of All In The Australian Outback

Kumho has turned to the harsh Australian outback to provide the real life test laboratory for its all-new mixed terrain tyre the Road Venturer MT51. Kumho put the prototype MT51s through an outback torture test in 2014 for final testing and proving ahead of final validation and sign off for production.

Using a convoy of four wheel drives across an extensive outback test course the new Kumho MT51 was also directly compared against the top selling mud terrain tyres from other brands. The new MT51s have now been released on the Australian market following the extensive testing and are available in many different sizes and a full range of wheel diameters.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia’s marketing and training manager David Basha, the Australian outback was seen as an important test location to ensure the performance of the MT51 was proven in the toughest conditions.

“The MT51 is clearly going to be an important tyre for Kumho in Australia as well as other important markets around the world, so having an independent, validated and properly documented test across extremely harsh conditions,” said David Basha. “We invited some of Australia’s most experienced outback drivers and testers to test and assess the new MT51 and the findings were even better than we had hoped for,” he added. “The MT51 has the opportunity to win a big share of a very important and valuable sector of the tyre market here in Australia and we believe that it will prove to be the new standard setter in the mud terrain market,” he said.

Kumho invited some of Australia’s most experienced off road drivers headed up by esteemed four-wheel drive journalist Allan Whiting to torture test the new Kumho MT51 in the Australian desert. The fleet cover almost 20,000 kilometres in an intensive test program with continuous measuring and gauging of performance, tread wear and damage along the way.

Constant back-to-back testing against opposition brands provided a measure for the performance of the MT51 and despite the most rugged conditions there were no punctures and no tyre failures in ambient surface temperatures that topped 50 degrees Celsius. As well as covering vast distances on outback dirt roads Kumho engineers rendezvoused with the test team in the outback centre of Broken Hill to complete more intensive back to back performance tests including tarmac braking, hill climbing grip and side slip grip levels. The result was a positive affirmation of the design and engineering that has been poured into the new Kumho MT51.

The MT51 delivered better braking performance stopping almost two metres shorter than the next best performing opposition tyre from 80 km/h on dry tarmac. It also outperformed the opposition in hill climbing tests providing better grip to outdistance the opposition while in side-slip tests the MT51 stayed on track, better resisting slip than the established mixed terrain tyres.

According to Allan Whiting, long time outback driver, journalist and publisher of the  Outback Travel Australia website,  the testing proved interesting and surprising results.

“The Kumho engineers said they wanted the tyres tested before release and we took three vehicles and found the worst stoniest roads we could across Western NSW, South Western Queensland and the far north of SA,” said Whiting. “We pounded the MT51s over the rough and stony desert roads alongside some popular competitive makes and I didn’t think there would be much difference, mixed terrain tyres are mixed terrain tyres, but in reality there was a world of difference,” he said.

“We also did a range of tests with Kumho Engineers at the end of the driving test and took the new Kumhos up a loose stony hillside and I didn’t think they would perform any differently to the opposition but they bounced less and grabbed more,” he added. “We also did a series of heavy spike stops from 80 km/h on stony gravel roads and also on high grip bitumen and I expected more block damage but they performed very well with minimal tearing,” he added. “In other tests we found a precarious hill side and took the Kumhos and competitor tyres across a slope with a fixed steering wheel angle and found the Kumhos had more lateral grip in these conditions than the competitor tyres did,” Whiting said.

Its clear that the new Kumho MT51 will become the new standard in mixed terrain 4×4 tyres providing the outback adventurers and workers the sort of rubber that will perform in all conditions, providing dependable tyres that they can rely on in the harshest places anywhere on earth.

Kumho MT51 – Designed for the Australian Environment

Kumho Tyre has launched its newest innovation; the Road Venture MT51. Designed to handle on and off road driving, the MT51 is a multi-purpose and adaptable 4WD tyre, which is perfect for Australia’s open roads and more rugged terrain.

After extensive product development and testing in Broken Hill, the MT51 was specifically manufactured to suit the Aussie environment. Most tyres fitted to cars in Australia are designed, developed and manufactured overseas. They are not put together with Australia’s harsh environment in mind. However, the MT51 is specifically constructed to handle everything our landscape can throw at it. It is this level of specificity to Australia that sets Kumho apart.

Kumho’s on-off road technology includes a dual pitch, staggered center tread blocks, which provide excellent mud and rock crawling performance. This also maintains the structural integrity of the tyre and also guarantees evenly spread tyre deterioration.

An improvement in durability means cracks, cuts, chips, and stone drilling are a thing of the past. This extends the life of the tyre greatly, and cuts down on expensive replacements. The traction performance of the MT51 includes a 3 level height block, greatly improving rigidity. A zigzag groove and notching shoulder both reduce sidewall damage and increase off road traction.

The MT51 is set up with special mud and stone emission technology. A stone reject bar and under groove decoration minimises stone penetration. This is yet another feature intended to extend the lifespan of the tyre, improving safety and adding value.

The MT51 is an exciting new improvement in dual application tyres. Australian roads of all conditions have never been as accessible while maintaining durability and safety.

Molly Taylor Vehicle Inspection Tips

http://www.kumho.com.au/blog/2015/09/21/molly-taylor-vehicle-inspection-tips/

Driving a vehicle is one of the most dangerous things people do; however,  you can prevent certain problems if you know how to check your car before driving. Along with Kumho Tyre, experienced rally driver and rising star of Australian Motorsport, Molly Taylor, shares her vehicle preliminary safety check when she sets out on the road.

A General Visual Check
Check under the car for obvious leaks. Driving with leaking fluid may cause failure of the steering, brakes or radiator. Many people are quick to jump into the car and drive, but a 30 second inspection of the car could save you significant cost if there is a problem and more importantly, could help you avoid a serious crash.

Tyre Pressure & Appearance
Driving on underinflated tyres is dangerous and could cause a very serious accident. Air pressure should be checked as often as you fuel up, as this not only improves safety but also increases efficiency, saving you money on fuel and tyre wear. Always examine your tyres for penetrations, bulges, cracks or abnormal wear. Just like your tyre pressure, the condition of tyres can be a major risk factor in motor accidents. Also, don’t forget to check your spare!

Oil & Water Level
You should check your fluid levels weekly. Most new cars will have an indicator to tell you when oil and water levels are low, however every car can be checked manually under the bonnet. Read the owner’s manual for directions on how to check these fluid levels, as this could save you a frustrating wait on the side of the road.

Windscreen Wipers and Washers
Believe it or not, it’s actually against the law to have faulty windscreen wipers. If yours aren’t working correctly it can be extremely hazardous when driving, particularly at speed. These should always be checked before you set out on your next journey. A sudden downpour could see you driving blind, leading to poor visibility and increasing your chances of becoming involved in an accident

Kumho Chosen For Latest Ultra High Performance Dodge Viper Acr

Kumho has been chosen by US manufacturer Chrysler as the original equipment tyre supplier for the latest and ultimate high performance version of the Dodge Viper- the hand built street-legal Viper ACR (American Club Racer).

Dodge chose the Kumho ECSTA V720 using 295/25ZR19 on the front and 355/30ZR19 on the rear. The massive rear ECSTA V720s provide the largest combined contact patch of any production car according to Dodge.

Designed and developed especially for the new Viper ACR, the Kumho ECSTA V720 features unique tread patterns and compounds front to rear and have achieved lap times as much as 1.5 seconds faster than dedicated race tyres as well as delivering sustained cornering loads of up to 1.5g during back-to-back testing.

Everyone of the high performance attributes of the ECSTA V720 are needed for the Viper ACR which boasts an awe-inspiring hand-built version of Dodge’s all-alloy 8.4-litre V10 engine, delivering drivetrain with a 481kW of power and 813 Nm of torque, which is thought to be the highest for any naturally-aspirated street legal sports car in the world. It powers through a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission

Dodge product manager Tim Kuniskis says the company’s aim is to dominate road courses around the world and to arm its enthusiast owners with the ultimate Viper track car and.

“This car is not a three lap track special, it has been designed and built to run all day without any tail-off in performance.” said Kuniskis

To achieve this, Dodge has endowed the 2016 Viper ACR with not only extraordinary power and torque but also significant aerodynamic and suspension upgrades including new Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, with six-pot calipers and 390 mm discs at the front and 360 mm discs and four pot calipers at the rear. Suspension is handled by Bilstein adjustable coil over shock absorbers with ten-way adjustment.

Kumho’s ultra-high-performance ECTSA V720 tyres even feature the ACR logo embossed on the sidewall, a nice salute to the extraordinary power and capability of the Viper.

The Viper ACR aero package produces up 900 kg of downforce at 285 kph

The latest Viper ACR has much to live up to following a line of Vipers dating back to 1999, including the last version, which captured the production car lap record around the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit with a time of 7 minutes 12.13 seconds.

With its ECSTA V720 tyres more power and refinement the new Viper ACR should better that significant lap record achievement at the famous circuit in the German Eiffel Mountains.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia national training and marketing manager, David Basha, the supply of super ultra high performance tyres such as the ECSTA V720 for the new Dodge Viper ACR under lines the company’s commitment for pushing the envelope when it comes to tyre performance and capability.

“Developing tyres such as the V720 for extreme demands such as those imposed by the Viper ACR expands our capabilities and the lessons learned flow down into everyday tyres used on regular passenger cars and SUVs,” said David Basha.

Viper ACR will be available for sale in the US from September of this year.

Successful Tyre Testing Shows Kumho Is Fit For The Fast Twins!

Twin Busch Motorsports started with the Audi R8 LMS ultra and the pilots Dennis and Marc Busch at the ADAC 24-hour qualifying race in the long distance 2015 season at the Nürburgring on 11/12 of April. The goal for the weekend was extensive tyre tests.
kumho is fit for the fast twins

Dennis Busch: "We have completely overhauled the Audi during the winter break, otherwise we would use the GT3 in the same configuration as in the previous year. The first show we wanted to sort out tires for the season and the 24-hour race with our development partner Kumho. In addition, we wanted to get a fixed starting place in the top 30 qualifying at the 24 hour race, which would mean we get the highly sought after blue light."

Manfred Theisen, Manager of Motor Sport KumhoTyre Europe GmbH said: "We have brought numerous constructions and tyre mixtures to the Eifel to test them on the very demanding Nürburgring Nordschleife”.

Although the tyre test program has been extensively dealt with in the individual training sessions, the Bush twins had fast times from the beginning. This was particularly important for the qualifying sessions, since the first ten places were awarded for the top 30 qualifiers. Marc Busch said: "We were with our top time of 8.33 minutes already in ninth position. In the second qualifying session we could no longer improve and therefore reached eleventh position five minutes from the end."

The sought after top 5 positions in the 6 hour race were still in reach. Initially it was very positive for the Twin Busch Audi R8 despite an early pit stop. And because the tyre tests were in focus on the race day, the team was from time to time in third place. Unfortunately due to a technical problem on the 21st lap it was over. "We were just on our way to the front again as the Audi came to a halt on the track. Fortunately, we had finished our tire test program said Dennis Busch, further more:"We are satisfied with our race speed and we are optimistic about the 24-hour race."

Australian Drivers Not Feeling the Pressure

Australian drivers are putting themselves and others at risk by ignoring four crucial components of their vehicles: their tyres. In a recent independent study1 by Kumho Tyre Australia, it was discovered that less than 5% of drivers check their tyre pressure when filling up at the bowser.
Over the course of three days, cars were observed refuelling at a petrol station in Sydney’s North West. Of the 360 vehicles that bought petrol from 8am until 11am, only 16 (4.4%) checked their tyre pressure.

The study revealed the worst offenders were commercial vehicle drivers, none of whom checked their vehicle tyre pressure during the three-day survey period.

“For a vehicle category that spends such a significant amount of time on the road, to avoid the air hose altogether is a very alarming finding,” said David Basha, spokesperson at Kumho Tyre Australia."

“Commercial vehicles which spend more time on the road than most should be very conscious about their tyre health.”

Kumho recommends checking your tyre pressure at every second visit to the petrol station where possible. Regularly checking pressure could save Australian drivers thousands of dollars on new tyres and fuel, with the correct tyre pressure-reducing road wear on the rubber. Correct pressure also offers better handling as low pressure could mean loss of control in extreme cases. Low pressure causes heavy wear, poor cornering and braking and, in extreme cases, blowouts.

“It was disappointing, but not unexpected that so few drivers were checking their tyre pressure,” explained David.

“Australians need to realise the risks associated with low tyre pressure. Car fatalities for the first four months of this year actually increased compared to the same period last year, so it’s in our best interest to ensure every aspect of the car is in the safest and best working condition possible – including tyres.”

The Advantages of Emergency Tyre Fitting

Nobody can predict the future and there are many situations when a person might need a tyre in hurry but don’t have solution. You should be alert for this kind of situation and also check out that your tyres have been vandalized. Drivers should aware to note that your tread depth is dangerously got down or low or the sidewall is cracked. These kinds of situation make us frustrated when we’re on long drive and suddenly blast in tyre. Here you need to do a quick action to short out situation and reach the destination.

More often, your tyre could let you fail when you are out on the road, needing fast decision to get vehicle again in action. Lithgow tyre service is best chance to contact them if you’re nearby areas. But if don’t have any idea or tyre service information, what will you do. Another best option is to call out a mobile tyre fitter. They are normally offer service in certain areas of the country, it can be effective if you stuck nearby location or area.

Tyre change means a person has proper knowledge and skill how to change and operate an essential body part in vehicle. Many people have light skill but not sure how to change if emergency occur. Changing a tyre when you are alone with other is not an easy task to handle without having skill. It goes very tough with heavy loaded vehicle like truck and it makes them very rustic when they have to transfer any order or carriage on time. If you just cross the Australia and going onward then buy truck tyres in Australia for any emergency. It was very worse experience when you do not have right skill to manage the situation but a professional can fit with replacement tyre that you know will again cause failure while driving.
